At St Mary and St Pancras CE Primary School we teach Spanish as part of our Modern Foreign Language provision. We believe that learning a second language not only enhances communication skills but also fosters cultural understanding and opens doors to new opportunities.
At our school, we believe in the importance of early language acquisition. In Years 1 and 2 children are introduced to Spanish songs and stories that help provide a platform for lessons in Key Stage 2. By introducing Spanish early and using the ‘Languagenut’ platform, we aim to provide our children with a solid foundation in Spanish and ignite a lifelong passion for language learning.
The Languagenut platform provides our teachers with a dynamic and engaging learning environment for our children. They can explore a wide range of interactive activities, games, and resources that make language learning exciting and enjoyable. The children can also listen to authentic pronunciations, engage in conversation simulations, and complete interactive exercises that reinforce vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension skills. Languagenut also allows our teachers to track individual progress and tailor instruction to meet each child’s unique needs.
In addition to Languagenut, our teachers create a supportive and immersive classroom environment where children are encouraged to have a go and not be afraid of making mistakes. Teachers incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, such as songs, stories, and cultural activities, to expose children to the richness of the Spanish language and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
