Our current Unit of Learning in Year 5 is the Vikings and Anglo Saxons and we recently learnt about Viking long ships. In Art, we decided to create our own art work inspired by Viking long ships, using the technique of layering and collage. First we designed our ships, deciding which figureheads and shields we wanted to use. Then we painted our backgrounds, most of us decided to do sunsets. Then we painted our water and waves separately and cut them out. Finally we decided how we wanted to arrange our layers before sticking them down. They turned out really beautifully!
