Year 2 had a fantastic time visiting the Florence Nightingale Museum. Our day began with a walk along the River Thames, where we spotted famous landmarks and identified both human and physical features. We then enjoyed a lovely summer picnic in Jubilee Park, followed by an exciting play session in the adventure playground.
Next, we strolled over to St Thomas’ Hospital, where we were thrilled to see the Mary Seacole Memorial Statue that links so closely to our recent learning. The children struck their best poses to show strength, bravery and determination — qualities for which Mary Seacole is remembered and celebrated.
At the museum, “Florence” herself quickly got us into shape Victorian-style! The children loved acting out key moments from Florence Nightingale’s life, exploring the museum and discovering the incredible artefacts on display.
It was a seamless and wonderful day out, where the children’s knowledge, enthusiasm and curiosity truly shone.
