In Year 1, we took our learning outdoors and headed into the garden to explore the wonderful world of animals and insects. The children carefully observed the small details of the creatures they could find, using these as inspiration for their upcoming clay work. They created thoughtful observational drawings, experimenting with a range of materials including oil pastels and graphite pencils to add texture and detail to their work. During the session, we also had a discussion about animals that are in danger and what might make them vulnerable, helping the children to begin thinking more deeply about the world around them.
