This term, as part of our Reading for Pleasure reading spine, the children enjoyed reading the book Come on, Daisy!. Through the story, we explored different emotions such as feeling sad, lonely, and worried. The children were encouraged to talk about their feelings, recognise emotions in themselves and others, and understand what these emotions mean.
The story also helped the children learn important safety messages, including what to do if they ever get lost, such as staying calm and listening carefully to trusted adults.
During our recent Stay and Play session, parents joined us to discuss emotions and emotional wellbeing. We talked about ways to help children regulate their emotions, solve problems, and develop strategies to manage different feelings positively. It was wonderful to share ideas together and strengthen the partnership between home and nursery.
We are very proud of how thoughtfully the children have been engaging in conversations about feelings and friendships this week.
