This Summer term, our nursery class will be exploring the exciting themes of plants and flowers and farms and farm animals. Through a rich variety of hands-on activities and stories, the children will develop their curiosity about the natural world around them.

In literacy, we will enjoy sharing much-loved stories such as Jasper’s Beanstalk, The Tiny Seed, Spot Goes to Farm and Noisy Farm using them to inspire conversations, storytelling, and early writing. These books will help children understand how plants grow and change over time.

In maths, we will focus on exploring the number 5 in depth, alongside developing skills in measuring and recognising and creating patterns through practical, play-based learning.

Our understanding of the world will grow as we learn about the features of a farm, including animals, buildings, and the roles of farmers. We will also explore how trees and natural landscapes change over time, helping children to notice differences and understand the passing of seasons.

In RE we will learn  “What are the special places and people in our community?”

Creativity will be at the heart of our learning, with plenty of opportunities for art and craft activities, where children will create their own plants, flowers, and farm scenes using a range of materials.
