This week, Nursery have been busy little chefs making our very own butternut squash soup!

We began by exploring the ingredients, looking carefully at their colours, shapes and textures. We used our senses to investigate the vegetables and talked about how they looked, felt and smelt. We then worked together to prepare our ingredients, developing our independence and practical skills along the way.

We learnt new vocabulary such as peel, chop, stir, mix and blend, whilst practising our listening skills and following simple instructions. We also talked about how vegetables grow and why eating a variety of foods helps to keep our bodies healthy.

Once our soup was ready, we had the opportunity to taste our delicious creation! What a wonderful hands-on experience, full of curiosity, teamwork and learning!
