This week, we were visited by a group of scientists and researchers from the Francis Crick Institute. They are able to explain to our children how anybody interested in science can pursue a career in this field and how science and technology is changing our world and local community.

After a standard question and answering introduction, the volunteers from the Francis Crick Institute began their tutorial and practical learning lesson about light and holograms.

In this session, our children were observing how light travels and how light can be reflected. We learned that light travels in waves and objects absorb colours so that we can create a more colourful world. Furthermore, finding reflective materials can help companies create clothing that can keep children safer in autumn as the days grow darker and cold.
