This half-term Reception has been learning about the Christian story of creation.
As part of our learning, this week we sought to answer our new key question, ‘What is special about the natural world?’ To do this, the children and I explored our school grounds and the quiet area. Which involved simply sitting quietly and listening, discussing what we observed and examining seasonal changes.
After we had looked at and listened to our beautiful world, the children then made ‘nature crowns’. This required the children to work collaboratively in pairs to collect natural objects and attach them to a crown. The children collected leaves, sticks, small stones and nuts. The children then stuck these onto their crowns to make different patterns and decorations.
The children adored this activity and enjoyed making patterns and shapes with different materials. I can’t wait to see what the crowns look like on their heads!’
