This week, we enjoyed taking part in our special RE Day, where we explored the importance of community and what makes our community special. We shared our ideas about the people, places and experiences that help us feel a sense of belonging and discussed how communities can support and care for one another.
As part of our learning, we read the book We Are All Neighbours, which helped us think about diversity, friendship and the many different people who make up a community. We talked about the similarities and differences between ourselves and celebrated what makes each of us unique.
To finish the day, we created our own artwork to represent what community means to us.
The children carefully included important people, places and landmarks from their own experiences, creating thoughtful and colourful pieces that reflected their understanding of belonging and togetherness. We were so proud of the children’s ideas and the respect they showed when listening to one another’s experiences.
