This week, year six were learning how to dissect, clean and prepare their brass instruments. They were able to explain the importance of cleaning the valves and blow holes thoroughly and could identify the parts of their instruments that needed to be mended. I was really impressed with our children’s independence during this task. Not only that, I was very pleased with the sense of ownership they had. This is a vital step for a musician to have as they begin to build a relationship with their instrument and learn the benefits music will have on their lives.
