This week, Year 5 went on an interesting and educational trip to the Khalsa Jatha Central London Gurdwara. We have been learning all about the Sikh religion as part of this term’s RE Topic and it was great to see a lot of what we had learnt about in person. When we arrived, we first took off our shoes and then covered our hair out of respect. Then our guide gave us a talk about the key principles of Sikhism and we also saw the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh Holy Book). After that, we went and had Langar. Langar is a traditional meal that Sikhs share with each other and others – even if they are not Sikh. It reminds them that everyone is equal and we all deserve equality and to eat together. It was delicious!
