This week, we were very excited to receive a mysterious package addressed to Reception! Of course, we could not wait to open it and discover what was inside. To our surprise, we found some tiny minibeasts. At first, we were not quite sure what they were, but after some careful observing and discussion, we discovered that they are caterpillars!
We have welcomed these very special visitors into our classroom and are looking forward to watching how they grow and change over time. Some of us already know that, in a few weeks, these caterpillars will transform, which has sparked lots of curiosity and excitement.
Throughout the week, we have been scientists—observing closely, making predictions and beginning to record what we notice in our own simple diaries. We have talked about what we think might happen next and used our knowledge of life cycles to help us.
We are so excited to return to school on Monday to see if anything has changed. We cannot wait to continue observing our caterpillars as they grow and transform right before our eyes!
