This week in Mathematics, we have been developing our understanding of doubling. We explored what it means to double a number and represented doubles in a variety of ways using Numicon, counters, dominoes and part-whole model. Through practical games and investigations, we learned that doubling means having two equal groups of the same amount.
We also began recording our doubles as addition number sentences, helping us to make links between practical resources and written mathematics. It has been wonderful to see our confidence grow as we recognise, recall and explain doubles using mathematical language.
