Half-term is here and what a wonderful final week we have had. Our clay tiles are finally complete! This week, we finally got to create a clay tile.
First, we kneaded the clay to warm it up. Next, we used our rolling pins to carefully role out the clay – that was tricky! After that, we created scratches on top of our tiles to make our animals stick.
Creating our animals in danger was the best part! We, rolled, pushed and carved the clay to make turtles, bees, butterflies and even tigers!
Finally, it was time to paint! We started with painting the background and then the animal. We got to mix colours together to change the shades and create our own colours too.
Here are our creative clay tiles, inspired by William De Morgan.
