Year 5 had an exciting trip to the Francis Crick Institute, where we stepped into the shoes of real scientists and worked in a real laboratory!

We put on our scientist hats and got hands-on with some fascinating experiments. Our mission was to discover which mystery powder was cornflour by investigating how different powders reacted with certain chemicals.

We carefully observed the reactions, made predictions and used our scientific skills to gather clues. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore how scientists work in real life and discover how chemistry can help us identify unknown substances.

Y5 showed brilliant curiosity, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the investigation. Who knew science could be so exciting?
