This week, Year 2 evaluated their wonderful Japanese artist inspired headdresses. Throughout the term, we have explored the work of Takashi Murakami, whose fun, quirky and vibrant floral artwork inspired our colourful designs. We also studied the living sculptor Takaya Hanayushi, learning how he carefully arranges flowers to create breathtaking wearable art.
Using tissue paper, crepe paper and pipe cleaners, the children designed and created their own floral headdresses. They thought carefully about colour, texture, shape and height, arranging their flowers to create striking and balanced compositions.
The children are incredibly proud of their finished creations and thoroughly enjoyed the creative process. There was a fantastic sense of collaboration throughout the project as children shared ideas, supported one another and worked together to solve artistic challenges.
