This Wednesday was National Numeracy Day and we absolutely loved celebrating it in Year 5. We started our day with some Sudoku and Magic Square puzzles. These were very stimulating for the brain and a real challenge. After this, we played a multiplication game called Swappy Strips which engaged the brain and let us practise the times tables we needed to, whilst also having an element of challenge. We then played a game called ‘Beat the petals’ where we had to problem solve and work out different solutions, by taking it in turns to draw a flower with 5 petals and colouring either one or two petals in, with the last person shading being the winner. It was a fantastic day full of reasoning, problem solving, competitiveness and fun!
