Welcome to Spring term in Nursery!

Spring is a wonderful time of growth and new beginnings, and our nursery children will be busy learning, exploring and developing important skills across all areas of the curriculum.

Throughout the term, we will be focusing on working together, sharing resources and taking turns as the children continue to build friendships and develop their confidence. We will support them in talking about their feelings and understanding what makes themselves and others special.

In Literacy, the children will practise holding pencils correctly and  name writing.

Our love of stories will continue to grow as we explore favourite books such as Supertato, Super Daisy, Super Chimp, The Gruffalo and Where the Wild Things Are. These stories will be shared during carpet time, whole-class discussions, small group work and through a range of exciting activities in both our indoor and outdoor learning environments.

In Phonics, children will enjoy playing with rhymes, alliteration and early blending, helping to build strong foundations for reading.

In Maths, we will explore positional language, learn about 2D shapes, and compare objects by weight and length through hands-on activities.

In R.E., our unit of learning “What makes us special?” will help children reflect on themselves, their families and the things that make each person unique.

Creativity will be at the heart of our learning as children sing songs, explore musical instruments, and express themselves through drawing, painting and collage. We will use the children’s own experiences as inspiration while also introducing them to new creative techniques.
