This half term, Year 1 have loved exploring their new English topic all about meteors, inspired by our class book Look Up! The children have been fully engaged in researching space, asking thoughtful questions, and learning exciting new facts about these incredible rocks from space.

To deepen their understanding, the children created their own meteor artwork. They carefully observed pictures and videos of meteors, then used a range of media to design their own fiery space creations. Once completed, the children labelled their artwork using carefully chosen adjectives. We were so impressed with the descriptive vocabulary they used, including words such as light, shiny, bright, rough, and huge. This language helped them describe what they could see and imagine, supporting their English writing skills beautifully.

Following their art and research, Year 1 worked incredibly hard to publish their own factual writing about meteors. The children learned what a fact is  and how to write clearly for an audience. Their final pieces were fantastic, full of interesting meteor facts and brilliant vocabulary.

We are extremely proud of the enthusiasm, creativity, and determination they have shown. Well done, Year 1!
