This term in art, we have been learning about a Bengali artist called Abdus Shakoor, who uses striking colour and abstract shapes to make his paintings unique. We first carried out an artist study, learning all about Shakoor’s life and how he came to be an artist. We then practised his style of art in our books, using different mediums to create similar outcomes. We then took to creating our final pieces, which were self portraits in the style of Shakoor. Spot the interesting use of colour, multi media approach (using pencil, wax crayon and water colour) and texture (spots on the background is a trademark!). We were very proud of these pieces of work.
