This week in Year 3 we finally got to carry out the shadow investigation that we planned. We already decided how we would make the experiment a fair test, how we would carry it out and discussed what we equipment we needed. We measured the distance from light source to opaque object using a tape measure and then measured the widest part of the shadow and recorded it all in a table. We noticed that some of our experiments didn’t quite go to plan because we weren’t sure which direction to hold the torch in away from the source. This was a great learning moment! We learnt that as the light source gets further away from an object, the shadows get smaller.
