This week in Nursery, we have been learning all about worms and why they are so important to our world which links with our focus story “Superworm”.

Why Are Worms Important?

We learnt that worms help the soil stay healthy. They make tunnels in the ground which lets air and water reach plants so they can grow strong.

We discovered that worms live underground, in dark, cool and damp places. They like to stay safe in the soil where the sun cannot dry them out.

Worms eat dead leaves, plants and soil. They help break these down and turn them into good food for the earth.

We went digging outside to look for worms and worked together to make a worm farm in our classroom. We also made patterns, just like the wiggly patterns worms make in the soil.

We learnt an important lesson about caring for living things. Worms are very fragile, so we must always use gentle hands when we hold them.
We have loved learning about worms and being little scientists!
