This week in Nursery, we’ve been exploring the story of The Three Little Pigs!
“Who made this mess?”
When the children arrived, they discovered our classroom was very messy! There was straw, sticks and even some bricks scattered everywhere. The children became little detectives to work out who could have done this. After some great discussions, they soon realised it must have been the Big Bad Wolf!
But when we went looking for the wolf….. we couldn’t find him anywhere. So the children made their own Wanted Posters to help everyone keep a lookout.
We learnt the whole story together, talking about where it happened and what took place. The children joined in retelling parts of the story using actions and lots of expression.
Next, we created our very own story maps to help us remember what happened first, next and last. The children did an amazing job using pictures and arrows to show the sequence of events.
Acting Out the Story
The nursery was full of excitement as the children took turns acting out the story. There were some brilliant pigs and a very huffy-puffy wolf! We used our masks and props to bring the tale to life.
In art, we got creative making our own pig masks and houses from the three materials — straw, sticks and bricks. The children explored textures and patterns, and worked together to build some very imaginative houses!
Design & Technology
To finish, we used marshmallows and sticks to design and build house structures. Before building, everyone drew their own plans showing what their houses would look like — just like real architects!
It’s been a fantastic week full of creativity, storytelling, and teamwork. Well done, Nursery – you’ve all worked so hard and had such fun learning with the Three Little Pigs!
