Year 2 has been learning about human and physical geographical features this week. The first physical geographical feature we’re looking at is The Great Barrier Reef. The children looked at where the reef is located and then watched a video about the types of animals that can be found there.

To finish off we started and will be completing an ART project all about the reef. The children had to paint the water using watercolours and different shades of blue and green. We then added a salt finish to give it the smell of the sea.

The children then sketched pictures, using step-by-step instructions, of some of the sea creatures that can be found there.

Next will we will cut out and attach the sea creatures to their salt water backdrop.

I am always impressed with the artistic ability of our children and this piece of artwork was no exception!
