A Fantastic Week of Reading in Year 2!
Year 2 have had a wonderful week of learning, filled with fun, excitement and a true love of books!
Our week began with a very special Festival of Reading on Monday, where we were lucky enough to meet five amazing authors and even the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Eddie Hanson! The children listened to exciting stories and took part in an illustration workshop, where they created fantastic drawings inspired by the books we heard.
We received a brilliant goody bag full of books to take back to school and there’s been a real buzz of excitement around reading ever since!
In Year 2, we enjoy at least one storybook every day in class and we encourage all children to spend 20 minutes reading at home each afternoon. Regular reading at home really helps build confidence, fluency and a lifelong love of books.
We change our reading books every Friday and these are carefully matched to your child’s current reading level. Please make sure your child brings their book bag to school every day so we can make the most of every reading opportunity and ensure their book is changed on time.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our children grow as happy, confident readers!
