This week in Reception, we enjoyed learning about Shrove Tuesday and began to understand the meaning of Lent. We talked about why people might choose to give something up and reflected carefully with our talk partners about what we might give up ourselves. Some of us decided on chocolate, some chose sweets and others even chose to give up their PlayStations! We showed such maturity when thinking about self-control and making thoughtful choices.
To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, we became chefs and mixed ingredients together to make our very own pancakes. We carefully measured, poured and stirred, noticing how the ingredients changed as we combined them. The smell was delicious and, of course, the pancakes were very yummy!
It has been a lovely week of learning, discussion and hands-on experiences, helping us to understand traditions while developing our speaking, listening and teamwork skills.
