This week in Year 1, we have been developing our understanding of number order by learning how to arrange numbers from smallest to greatest.
The children worked collaboratively in small groups, sharing ideas and supporting one another as they explored different ways to order numbers correctly. To help make the learning practical and visual, we used number towers made from cubes. Each tower represented a number, allowing the children to clearly see which numbers were smaller and which were greater.
By building and comparing the towers, the children were able to reason mathematically, using vocabulary such as smallest, greatest, more than and less than. They discussed their choices with their peers and checked their work together, building both confidence and communication skills.
