Year 1 has been doing lots of work with Numicon this year, including:
- Identifying each piece of Numicon by sight / colour
- Representing the same amount in different ways (using different pieces of Numicon)
- Adding and taking away using numicon
This week we looked at one more and one less using Numicon pieces to explore size.
The children were shown a piece of Numicon and then had to select the Numicon pieces that were ‘1 more’ and ‘1 less’. They found this tricky at first but soon for the hang of it.
