This week, our Nursery children have been busy exploring the colourful festival of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. The children immersed themselves in a range of exciting, hands-on activities that helped them learn more about this special celebration while developing important early learning skills.
The week began with a sensory adventure as the children tasted traditional Diwali foods, discovering new flavours and textures. They especially enjoyed talking about which foods were sweet, crunchy, or spicy!
Our creative little artists also made their own beautiful Rangoli patterns using coloured card and glitter.
We have also been busy helping Humpty Dumpty by building him a strong new wall! During this fun activity, the children explored lots of prepositional language to describe where Humpty and the bricks were.
As they worked together, the children used words such as on, under, next to, in front of, and behind to talk about where they were placing their bricks and where Humpty was sitting.
They enjoyed experimenting with different ways to build the wall, making sure it was tall and sturdy enough so that Humpty didn’t fall off again! This activity supported their language development, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as they played and talked together.
