This week in Reception, the children have been learning about the landmarks of London. They began with a lively scavenger hunt, which encouraged observation, recall and discussion skills as they identified and named some of London’s most famous sights. Outside, the children then extended their learning in the construction and loose parts areas, working collaboratively to design and build their own landmarks, including Big Ben and The Shard. These experiences supported their creativity, problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills, while also giving them opportunities to explore shape, balance and structure in a purposeful and engaging way. The children were incredibly proud of their creations and loved sharing them with their friends!
