This morning, Year 3 were lucky enough to join a live assembly from Antarctica! They learned about the freezing conditions, how they survive their expeditions, and how challenging it is to travel from place to place during their exploring. They couldn’t believe that Robert pulled his own sledge weighing 110kg (the equivalent to two full-grown male adults!)

The assembly concluded with the extraordinary ‘Ice Man’ Robert Swan handing the baton over to the children of today, mentioning that by 2041 (15 years from now – the pupils in Year 3 will be 22…wow!!) he wants the whole world to leave Antarctica alone and let it be, for we have learned enough from it, and that it’s time to preserve our world and our important species!
