This week in Science, Year 4 have been looking at classifying different types of animals. First, we looked at the different types of animals and we decided whether they were mammals, amphibians, reptiles or birds based on their features. Then we looked at what they all had in common. We realised that they all had spines. We learnt the definition of vertebrates and invertebrates and then thought about which animals would fit into each category. Then we looked at some different types of invertebrates and understood what their characteristics were. Lots of us were surprised to discover that spiders are NOT insects!
