Year 2 have jumped straight back into learning, focusing on Maths and counting money. The children have been finding the exact change to pay for items, working out change from £1, and recognising the value of all British coins.

Thanks to the Oxford Maths Reasoning Programme we are taking part in, the children had a fantastic head start. Their ability to count on using coins has been incredibly impressive.

We enjoyed a fun and challenging shopping game where children could only purchase items if they had the correct change. This activity really tested their skills and confidence while keeping learning enjoyable.

You can support learning at home by letting your child count loose change up to £1. Encourage them to place the coins in value order (not size order!) and carefully count up to find the total amount.

Well done, Year 2 — you’re really worth your weight in pounds! 🇬🇧💷👏
