What an action-packed and wonderful week it’s been for Year 2!
We began by exploring the powerful world of music—not just by hearing it, but by feeling it! Inspired by the amazing deaf percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, the children learned how music can be experienced through vibrations. We discovered that percussionists make music by scraping, striking, and shaking instruments. Following Dame Evelyn’s example, we even took off our shoes and felt the beat through the floor—it was a fun and unforgettable way to connect with rhythm.
But the excitement didn’t stop there!
We were thrilled to welcome a visitor from School Food Matters, who introduced us to our next big project: growing, making, and selling our very own chutney! The children are already buzzing with ideas, and we can’t wait to see what delicious creations lie ahead. Watch this space for more updates!
To top it all off, Year 2 took a step back in time and immersed themselves in Victorian history. Dressed as famous Victorians and handling real artefacts from the era, the children got a hands-on experience of what life was like over a century ago.
From music and food to history and creativity—this week truly had it all!
