This week, Year 4 have been using watercolours in art to create beautiful observational drawings inspired by nature. We began by heading out into the school garden, where we used viewfinders to focus on interesting parts of the scenery. A viewfinder is a tool that helps artists frame or crop a scene to decide on the best composition.
Back in class, we sketched what we saw in our sketchbooks, paying close attention to detail, texture, and shape. Finally, we created our final pieces and used watercolours to paint them, experimenting with blending and layering colours. The results were stunning—full of colour, creativity, and a wonderful appreciation of nature!
