This week, we learnt all about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. We explored the story of Rama and Sita and discussed how people around the world celebrate this special festival. The children created beautiful rangoli patterns using coloured rice and chalk to decorate our classroom, showing wonderful creativity and fine motor skills. We also designed rangoli patterns on biscuits, which were almost too good to eat! Everyone enjoyed tasting some of the traditional foods people may eat during Diwali – the poppadoms were definitely a favourite! To finish our celebrations, we made vibrant firework art, using paint and glitter to represent the spectacular Diwali celebrations. The children loved learning about different cultures and traditions, showing curiosity and respect throughout.
