In Year 1, we have been working in pairs to build our teamwork skills during our maths lessons. Each child had a turn to roll a dice, subitise the number, and place counters on a ten frame. The children then practised counting on from that number to complete the ten frame. This activity is part of our maths curriculum and supports the development of fluency in subitising, as well as deepening understanding of number bonds to ten. Alongside this, the children are learning to take turns, work collaboratively, and explain their mathematical thinking with confidence. These important skills lay the foundation for future learning in addition and subtraction.
