Year 1 have been on an exciting artistic journey, exploring the inspiring work of artist Kevork Mourad! We started by learning about Kevork and discovered that he finds inspiration in his memories and music. This sparked our curiosity and creativity, as we thought about how our own memories and favourite songs make us feel.

The children experimented with creating art to music, noticing how different tunes made them want to draw different lines and shapes. Sometimes the music made them feel happy and energetic, so their marks were bold and swirling. Other times, soft and gentle music encouraged delicate, quiet lines. It was amazing to see how feelings can flow straight onto paper!

Next, we tried a printing technique, turning our ideas into even more colourful artwork. Year 1 carefully designed their own patterns on foam and then printed them onto watercolour backgrounds. This gave their art a wonderful mix of textures, shapes, and colours, just like Kevork Mourad’s pieces.

We are so proud of how hard the children worked. They showed such creativity, focus, and imagination throughout the lessons. Their artwork is full of energy, colour, and personality, and it has been inspiring to watch them express themselves in new ways.

Well done, Year 1 your creativity is shining bright!
