We’re looking forward to an exciting and purposeful term in Year 3, filled with rich and engaging learning opportunities across the curriculum.

In Literacy, Year 3 will explore two engaging texts: The Tin Forest and 24 Hours in the Stone Age. These texts will provide opportunities to develop reading fluency and comprehension, expand vocabulary, and build confidence in creative writing, discussion, and exploring characters, settings, and themes.

In Numeracy, our focus will be on Place Value, followed by Addition and Subtraction. Year 3 will develop their understanding of number and place value, while building confidence with a range of calculation methods. As always, we will continue to strengthen fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

Our wider curriculum continues to offer meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

Our Unit of Learning this term is The Stone Age. Year 3 will explore this fascinating period of history, learning about how people lived, hunted, gathered food, and adapted to their environment. They will develop their historical enquiry skills and gain a deeper understanding of what life was like during the Stone Age.

In RE, Year 3 will explore the question: What is the Bible’s Big Story? This unit will develop their understanding of the Bible by exploring key stories, people, and themes, and considering how these fit into the wider Christian story.

In Computing, Year 3 will continue developing their Digital Literacy skills through a range of activities, alongside taking part in Typing Club. They will learn how to use technology safely and effectively while developing their confidence and accuracy when typing.

In PSHE, the focus will be on Respect. Year 3 will explore what it means to respect themselves and others, developing their understanding of kindness, consideration, and positive relationships.

In PE, lessons will focus on Hockey, helping Year 3 to develop coordination, control, teamwork, and tactical awareness while building confidence in a range of physical activities.

In Spanish, Year 3 will explore the topic All About Me, developing their vocabulary and confidence when introducing themselves and talking about themselves in Spanish.

We look forward to a busy and rewarding term ahead and thank you, as always, for your continued support.
