This term is an exciting term as Year 3 settle into KS2.
We have lots to look forward to, including learning about the Stone Age through to the Iron Age in History. We will be learning about how we developed from simple hunter-gatherers to farmers. This links into our Science topic where we will be beginning the year by looking at ‘Skeletons, how we move and how diet and nutrition helps our bones’. Our English text is ‘The Tin Forest’, where we focus on using descriptive writing through diary entries, writing about a setting and writing in the style of the author.
We begin our Maths unit with Place Value to review our knowledge before learning strategies to solve Addition and Subtraction problems in the 10’s and 100’s. Times tables will be an ongoing focus as we start to prepare children for their multiplication test in Year 4. The ‘Bible’s big story’, is the focus for Religious Education, looking at the concepts of incarnation and how Christians believe the disciples helped spread the word of Jesus to the world. Physical Education will be on a Wednesday, with Hockey being the highlight. We are looking forward to all the learning that will take place this half term!
