Year 1 became material detectives as we investigated how to keep Teddy dry! We tested paper towel, cloth and plastic to find out which would make the best waterproof roof.

First, the children predicted whether each material would keep Teddy dry. We then added the same number of water drops to each roof to make our test fair. The children observed whether the water soaked through and recorded their findings. We discussed our results and used words such as waterproof, absorbent, prediction and materials to explain which roof would be the best choice for Teddy.
