This week in Science, Y5 have been learning about friction. Friction is a force that happens when two surfaces rub against each other. It can slow things down or make it harder for objects to move. We carried out an experiment to find out whose shoes would create the most friction on the carpet. We used a Newton meter to measure the force needed to pull each pair of shoes across the carpet. We made sure to pull the shoes in the same way each time so that our test was fair. We then compared our results to see which shoes needed the most force to move. It was great fun investigating friction and seeing how different shoes can create different amounts of friction!
