Year 2 had a fantastic time visiting Organiclea Farm this week. A huge thank you to Food School Matters for generously funding the coach travel, providing the fruit and making this wonderful learning experience possible. We are also incredibly grateful to the knowledgeable and welcoming staff at Organiclea, who shared their passion for growing food sustainably.
During the visit, the children explored the farm, discovering a wide variety of crops growing in the fields and learning how fresh produce is planted, cared for and harvested. They were delighted to pick their own organic plums and were very kindly given an abundance of delicious organic apricots to take back to school.
The excitement doesn’t stop there! Back in the classroom, the children will use their freshly harvested fruit to make their own organic plum and apricot chutney, which they will proudly sell at Camden Wholefoods. Every jar sold will help raise money for Camden Foodbank, the charity chosen by the Year 2 children.
