This week, we began creating our collaborative artwork piece inspired by the life cycle of a butterfly. After spending several weeks observing our very own caterpillars grow, form chrysalises and eventually transform into butterflies, we used our experiences to inspire our artwork.

We explored colour, texture and pattern whilst working together to create large-scale butterfly and caterpillar pieces. The children painted, ripped, collaged and layered different materials including cardboard, card and tissue paper to add detail and texture to their creations.

Throughout the process, we shared ideas, discussed the patterns we had noticed on real butterflies and worked collaboratively to make creative decisions together. The children showed fantastic concentration, teamwork and pride in their work whilst developing a deeper appreciation for the natural world around them.

We cannot wait to display our finished artwork!
