This week in Nursery, we discovered that maths is everywhere! The children explored lots of exciting maths activities, from solving puzzles to finding 1 less through fun number songs.
The children used preposition language with Spot the dog. First, they listened carefully to the teacher’s instructions to find where Spot was hiding. Then, working brilliantly with their partners, they took turns giving instructions to each other using words such as “under,” “behind,” “next to,” and “on top of.”
We also took our maths learning outdoors, as we do every day, to practise our subitising skills. The children enjoyed spotting small groups of objects and saying how many there were without counting one by one. It was wonderful to see the children using their maths skills confidently through play, songs, teamwork, and outdoor learning.
