This term, the children have been enjoying learning through our focus story The Gruffalo. We explored the characters in the story, talking about their appearance and personalities, and brought the tale to life by acting it out together. This supported the children’s language development, imagination and confidence as they retold the story in their own words.
As part of our Design and Technology learning, we made our very own Gruffalo crumble. The children followed a simple recipe, carefully measuring the ingredients and taking turns to mix them. They also observed an exciting change as the chocolate melted from a solid to a liquid when exposed to heat, helping them to understand simple science concepts.
This hands-on experience encouraged teamwork, early maths skills and curiosity, while making learning fun and meaningful.
