Year 2 had a wonderful time celebrating British Values Day this week. Everyone came dressed in red, white and blue- the colours of the Union Jack and we spent the day learning all about the British value of mutual respect.
To get creative, we decorated our own Union Jack bunting, which we hung on our tables.
At lunchtime, we enjoyed a delicious meal of traditional British food in the dining room. There were lots of smiles and clean plates!
Back in class, we explored the meaning of respect and why it’s so important. We acted out little plays to show different ways we can be respectful and everyone had a turn at performing. We practised showing respect by being a great audience, listening carefully, clapping politely and giving compliments.
We also talked about how we show respect in school and in the wider community, like using our manners, helping others and taking care not to litter. To finish the day, we designed and decorated our own boomerangs, because respect is like a boomerang; when you give it out, it comes back to you!
Well done, Year 2, you really showed what mutual respect looks like in action!
