This week, Year 5 got creative by composing their own piece of music all about Vikings! Using a range of instruments like trumpets, recorders, trombones, djembe drums, keyboards, and other percussion, they made sounds that told a Viking story. The brass trumpets and trombones sounded like Viking ships sailing, while the drums and percussion gave strong, exciting beats like Viking battles and adventures. The keyboards added melodies to bring it all together. Working in small groups, we tried out different rhythms and tunes, deciding how each instrument could play its part. Some groups made fast, dramatic sections, while others created calm parts about Viking life. The best part was performing their piece at the end—everyone did a great job showing off their Viking music! It was a fun way to learn about music and history at the same time.
Wow!
This was such a fun activity, I only struggled with my instrument since I’m not that used to it
Everyone did fantastic! Just a little practice and we nailed it!
