This week, we have been using our senses and consolidating what he had learnt in Science, in English! We have been using our senses to create poems to describe a forest. We had so much fun taking notice, to choose vocabulary carefully.

We began by looking at a variety of forests, using our sight. “I see the gushing water”. “I see the enormous, bushy trees”.

Then, we used our hearing to listen carefully to the sounds of the forest. We really enjoyed focussing on sounds as we thought of words such as “peaceful” “flowing river”.

After that, we got to smell and taste foods from forests! We tested garlic, berries and mint. Some of us had experienced fresh garlic before. “I smell powerful garlic”. “I smell fresh, minty leaves”. Surprisingly, the mint leaves tasted wonderful – “I tasted minty leaves”. This evoked questions such as, “How do you grow mint?”.

Miss Davies:
Real life experiences are a great stimulus for young children. Planting the seed for curiosity. 🌱
